VNG Handel & Vertrieb GmbH and Pfalzgas GmbH sign letter of intent for intensive cooperation in the field of green gases

Leipzig, June 24, 2025. The Leipzig-based gas trader VNG Handel & Vertrieb GmbH (VNG H&V), a wholly owned subsidiary of VNG AG and Pfalzgas GmbH have signed a letter of intent (LOI) for intensive cooperation in the field of green gases. The aim of the cooperation is to examine joint potential for the supply, transport and use of green and low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia and to shape the transformation through to the decarbonization of Pfalzgas' energy procurement.

“Climate-neutral gases such as green hydrogen will be a mainstay of the future energy system alongside renewable electricity,” emphasizes Werner Brommko, Head of Sales at Pfalzgas GmbH. “With VNG Handel & Vertrieb, we have a strong partner that not only has market access, but also technical expertise in the hydrogen industry.”

The focus of the collaboration is the gradual decarbonization of Pfalzgas' energy procurement. VNG H&V offers strategic and operational support in shaping future procurement as well as the supply of renewable and decarbonized gases. These include biomethane, imported green and low-carbon hydrogen and, in the future, self-produced hydrogen.

At the same time, Pfalzgas is preparing intensively for the transformation of its gas network and is pressing ahead with the H2 readiness of its infrastructure. With the planned feed-in of green gases, Pfalzgas wants to help shape a sustainable and future-proof energy supply locally.

“Our common goal is to develop practicable and economically viable solutions for the region's hydrogen supply - from molecule to application,” explains Alexander Lück, Head of Sales & Marketing at VNG H&V. “The LOI with Pfalzgas is another important step for us in actively driving forward the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy in Germany.”

Both companies see the cooperation as a long-term and strategic partnership on the way to a climate-neutral energy future.
